We are in the best and worst times of our lives..

I had a long talk with a client/old friend of mine. He’s a young architect and a businessman and of course someone that I look-up to. Other than his own interior architect company, he owns a successful strings of sushi restaurant and also another company that I can’t really explain, and he’s still in his early 30s. He reminds me how important it is to pursue your passion as he did when he was at my age (or maybe a bit more) and even now he’s still trying to achieve more dreams that he has yet to accomplish (in which quite similar to mine on that matter).

I remember back in the college where I spent hundreds of hours developing personal projects just because I believe it was cool, because it’s a PASSION of mine and because it’s.. fun! Now I can’t even recall the last time I did a project just for the sake of it. Now it’s all about the money.. I miss those days.

After that long talk (and of course gossiping around ) I really think I need to re-establish and re-focus my goals, plan things out again and ask myself what REALLY I want to achieve in life (or at least this year) and then change how I live my life according to that goals. We are at our primes and we can and would be someone that we believe we could be. I believe the time to act is NOW! It doesn’t have to be fast, but the first step needs to be walked.

I did my first step on 2009, what’s yours?

So many changes had happened this year, especially in the last months, it’s quite shocking really and most of it is pretty much beyond me, and yet with all that has happened.. All the things that I wished for last year came to reality. God really have a funny way of showing that He cared for us. Let’s review shall we!

1. The rise of Arusmedia

I got asked by Kuswanto and Anggi to join in at October, we talked a lot of things and decided to go along with the idea of making the first indonesian blogging network. We really have high hopes for this company and bigger plans are in preparation for 2009. Read all about it here.

Owh, we’re holding a prize fight for iPod Shuffle and 8GB Flashdisks. Join us and win it!

2. The fall of PT. Rajasa Grafika

It’s been one hell of a ride, but it has to stop somewhere. For PT. Rajasa Grafika, now is the time. I have been throwing my bones (baca: banting tulang) for this past 3 years and it’s been fun for all of us. There are good times and hard times but we stood our grounds until now. This is just a stepping stone for me and now it’s time to move on. I’ve collected the money I need to invest on bigger things, and my colleagues are also moving on with bigger jobs. Ganbatte for all of you! I will always wish you all the best.

Don’t get me wrong, Rajasa Web and Graphics will still go on. Just not with any PT backing it up. You know what that means? I’m a full-time freelancer! Yippie! I still love web designing and will continue doing it to a certain point.

Now, I’ve made great things with Rajasa Web and Graphics from nothing. Let’s see what I can do with this load of cash

3. The partnership with Tulakom

Since I’m a full-time freelancer, it would be a great idea to team up with somebody. What better choice is there than with one of the best of the best in indonesian web design world: Satya Witoelar of Tulakom. I’ve asked whether he’s interested on my skills and would consider me working under him at Tulakom and guess what? He wants me to be his partner! Wow, it is a great honor for me to be his partner since I’ve looked up to him these past years. I’ve worked with him a couple of times in the past so I know it would be very interesting to be by his side next year

Rajasa is an official partner of Tulakom. Had a nice ring to it

4. More businesses to come

There are other things that I can’t disclose yet, but it’s a collaboration project between Ollie & Anang, Anggi & Agus and myself that’s focusing on art and clothing. Will be looking forward on the beta release in February 2009 I won’t stop here, I would definitely want to have more and more businesses to come. Wish me luck as I’m making bolder moves every year XD

5. New love

Hm… let’s keep this between close friends shall we

So yeah, a lot has change and I’m proud of myself to be able to experience all of that. I’ve learned a lot, lost a lot and gain a lot and I believe all of that makes me a better man.

In conclusion, I’m officially starting my second milestone. The first is PT. Rajasa Grafika and the second is this. The next one would be 5 years from now What can I do in 5 years? I.. personally don’t know, but it would definitely be as much fun (if not more) as this year.

God have a very peculiar way of running things, but I believe that everything that has happened is what’s best for me.

Cheers!

My linksys wireless router broke in less than 1 year of its use, I am very dissapointed and would denifitely not recommend using it anymore. Now I recommend Belkin 54g because it’s small, sleek and it’s cheaper! I bought mine at Rp. 430.000,- and i’m satisfied with it.. at least currently satisfied. Read on for more

And so I plugged everything in, the power cable, the modem to router via ethernet cable, and also the cable from my laptop to my router (no wifi yet because i want to check the wired connection first).

The CD came with an easy installer for the Mac OS X! So happy that apple users are not forgotten. The good thing is, I just put the CD, it starts up an easy installer, click next, put my desired wifi name and the installer does all the settings! Such a happy user I am.

Although it was easy to do the settings with the easy installer, it does not set your router password, and also the wifi password. To set this, you can go to http://192.168.2.1 (this is the default IP for administration). Go to the appropriate menu for further settings (see picture below).

For the wireless security, I use the settings like in the picture below (it’s the default )

Hope it helps!

Anybody knows how to do something like that?

Updated
Nevermind, I did it with this simple jquery codes:

?View Code JAVASCRIPT

this.numberformat = function(){

	$("input.numberformat").focus(function(e) {
 this.value = stripToMoney(this.value);
	}).blur(function(e) {
 this.value = DecimalAsString(this.value);

This is as simple as formatting the numbers on blur (out from focus) so that it would look formatted when your cursor are not in that field, and strip the input field from dots (.), comma (,) and strip (-) when the cursor are in the field. Here’s the code for striping the format:

	return words;
}

And here’s the one to format the number into groups of 3 and separate it with a dot (.), something like (1.000.000):

Hanya customer saja..

Well anyway, I believe in the freedom of speech, bahwa semua orang berhak untuk mengutarakan pendapatnya dengan cara yang sehat dan sesuai aturan.

Which would cause problems like misunderstanding and conflict of interest.

Mengingat dan menimbang kalo pendapat tu kadang tidak bisa dinilai benar atau salah (especially when discussing something undone, like your future) maka kesalahpahaman bisa melenceng menjadi sangat jauh, apalagi kalo keseringan berasumsi. Just remember one thing, Opinion is not a Fact! karena opini itu relatif, fakta itu absolut (kecuali faktanya salah ehehehe).

But hey! that’s life. Makanya kalo kata Pak Stef si, jangan asumsi dan jangan sok tau, so we could at least minimize the damage of communication.

So as I have said in the above, I believe in the freedom of speech.

This goes for all bikers yang kl nyerempet ato tabrakan cuman bisa marah2 dan bilang: “Ini kan Jakarta Bung!”. Bleh…

My Weight
89 kg… damn… gabungan dari susu, stress dan kentang goreng… not good…

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a
neighbouring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved
by Arthur’s youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom,
as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would
have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still
had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?….What do women really want? Such a question would
perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it
seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he
accepted the monarch’s proposition to have an answer by year’s end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess,
the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with
everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would
have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the
kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk
to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to
agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the
Knights of the Round Table and Arthur’s closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only
one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never
encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible
burden, but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur’s life
and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur’s
question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered….is to be in charge of her
own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a
great truth and that Arthur’s life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighbouring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and
Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a
horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited
him. The most beautiful Woman he had ever seen, lay before him on the
bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened. The beauty
replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a
witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half
the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day….or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman
to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his
castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch
during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy
wondrous, intimate moments?

What would YOU do?

What Lancelot chose is below. BUT….make YOUR choice before you
scroll down below. OKAY?

Noble Lancelot, knowing the answer the witch gave Arthur to his
question, said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the
time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of
her own life.

Now….what is the moral to this story?

The moral is…..
If you don’t let a woman have her own way…

Things are going to get ugly
