Yahoo have made a the 13 web optimization rules that everyone can use. Well, not all rules are cheap and easy to use buat most of them is doable. Read it here: Thirteen Simple Rules for Speeding Up Your Web Site

I myself only implement optimizing HTTP requests, putting CSS on top, having no css expression, putting JS and CSS externally, minifying javascript, avoiding redirects and removing duplicate tags. I can’t afford implement Content Delivery Network because it’s costly, but maybe you guys in the big company can.

I’m trying out a new feature photo embedding feature from Sharingfoto. It’s still maturing because I can only post the currently newest pictures. And it isn’t dynamic :( Ow well, I will fix it up tommorow. In the mean time, let’s try posting it here.

It’s funny how little things you say, small things you do, or the things that you don’t do, can cause a big hate on you.. Even without you knowing. And in most cases, other people are the ones that got hurt, not yourself.

be very careful with your mouth, extra careful with your actions, and choose wisely for things that you won’t/don’t/can’t do.

Fiuh, finally in Jakarta Again. I’m rather busy at the moments so don’t really have time to share. I could attach my report to Sampoerna but then again it’s unethical :P To make things short: I had a great time there, I eat crabs, go places and do something good all in one journey. If they need me back there then I’d gladly be of service.

Moreover, here’s more pics from there. Boy am I sweaty..

Today I’ll be going to Balikpapan with bima on a job from Sampoerna Foundation as a part of their United School Program. There I will teach web design for 3 days, it will be targeted to high school students of SMA 2 Balikpapan. I’ve stayed at Balikpapan for 2 years on my junior high so I believe It won’t be a problem.

On the other hand, teaching HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and GIMP with all the concepts and jiffies are a tough job. So let’s see how we can manage in 3 days shall we!

So, anybody want crabs?

It has been a hectic month, meetings from Tebet to Kedoya, works on design, development, researches, planning for another hectic week. Boy.. o boy. The funny thing about this month is that there are quite a lot of offers on Web 2.0 website development. From only the looks of it to a whole system of it. it IS a good sign.. IF.. they really know what Web 2.0 really means.

It’s not the looks, it’s not Ajax. It’s the interaction, the user generate content, the whole participation of the users! That’s Web 2.0! If we can say it bluntly, even an online forum is a Web 2.0 Website!

Okay, nuff said. More on the Web 2.0 development. I had 2 offers on making a restaurant review site, an ad posting site, Music related site (can’t disclosed now), and a video sharing site (no, not a youTube clone). All in this months work. 2 of those requests are coming from the US, bet it’ll look good on my company’s portfolio :P

Moreover, I’m still researching on Adobe AIR and Flash, also in my list are cakePHP, TextPattern, and MovableType (By recommendation of VikingKarwur). Fiuh.. another month fueled by coffee!

PS: I’m planning to buy Nintendo DS by the end of this month! Let’s just hope my budget planning are intact and inplace (read: bim, don’t jinx it).

About 2 months ago, I made a moodmill Avatar Mood out of boredom. I code too much at that time and needed to design something cute and hence comes the avatar. I only intend to use the avatar for my personal moodmill account because the previous avatar was ugly, but Felix asked for a new avatar so hell, i’d just give em that :D. Here’s a screenshot of the avatars:

In my search to optimize (again and again) Sharingfoto.com, I discovered a great optimization tips by thinkVitamin. Here’s a quote:

When building out your AJAX application, it’s a good idea to keep in mind the different sources of latency that can slow down the user experience. These include:

  1. The Database (both in memory and filesystem swap)
  2. App Server Execution & Rendering
  3. The Webserver
  4. The Network
  5. The Browser (only in really complex AJAX apps)

Read it and do it!

It’s been so long that I plan to set up Internet Connection in my home. Mostly because with Internet, I could work at home and would only go to my office for meetings or if deem necessary. So Speedy comes in mind, but with all the commotion about it being a bad service (which I believe so), I hesitated.

In my search for Speedy infos, I stumble upon Bill Suhaedy’s Website. There he wrote a pretty decent guide on how to start using Speedy. He depicted what modem to use, what series and type, his first time experiences and quite a lot of useful information. Maybe you’re wondering why the hell do we need a guide for Speedy? Well, trust me.. you’ll need it.
